Fundraising campaign for parents of a child (6) who drowned in a recreational lake

A fundraising campaign has been started for the parents of the 6-year-old boy Abdyrahman from Oss who drowned on Thursday in the recreational lake De Lithse Ham in Lith. The initiator wants to raise money so that the parents can give their son a nice farewell.

Abdyrahman and his parents fled from Turkmenistan to Ukraine. Because of the war they fled from that country to the Netherlands.

The boy was with his parents at the recreational lake in Lith on Wednesday. There the boy suddenly disappeared while playing. After his disappearance, a major search operation was immediately started with divers from the fire brigade and a police helicopter. The Veteran Search Team also searched the area for the boy. The boy’s family also joined the search.

The body of the boy was found in the water of the puddle on Thursday just before noon. According to the initiator, the 6-year-old boy was in a language class at the Sterrebos School in Oss.

With the fundraiser initiator Mark Martens wants to collect money for Abdyrahman’s funeral. “We were at the puddle on Tuesday evening with our children who are about the same age. The water gets deep there quite quickly. We sympathize with the boy’s family and would like to help them with a nice farewell to their son,” says Martens.
