This emerges from the decision that is available to the sports show and that provides for a three-stage plan. The first level deals with private meetings, levels two and three regulate large national events. Specifically, it looks like this:
- From March 4th, people who have recovered and who have been vaccinated (2G regulation or those who have recovered and who have been vaccinated with a daily test or a third vaccination (2GPlus regulation) can participate as spectators at national major events (including sport). Indoor events are limited to one occupancy of 60 percent of the respective maximum capacity is permitted, whereby the number of spectators may not exceed 6,000. For outdoor events, a maximum occupancy of 75 percent of the respective maximum capacity is permitted, whereby the number of spectators must not exceed 25,000. Medical masks should be worn as flanking measures (FFP2 masks if possible) are worn and hygiene concepts are provided.
- In a third and final step from March 20, 2022, all more far-reaching protective measures are to be dropped if the situation in the hospitals allows it.
“Lights on the Horizon”
The managing director of the Handball Bundesliga, Frank Bohmann, spoke of “Lights on the Horizon”. With the loosening “can we live well”he said.
Dierk Schmäschke, Managing Director of SG Flensburg-Handewitt, sees it similarly: “We are clearly going step by step in the right direction.”
Chancellor spreads confidence
The eleven-page decision paper contains greater easing than provided for in a first proposal for a resolution. “We are on a special day of the pandemic, we can look ahead with more confidence“said Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz: “If everything stays the same, we will have a steadily improving situation in the coming weeks.”
However, Scholz restricts in the event of an emergency: “We will maintain basic protection measures as a possibility of action, but not as a standard. We will dare to open most. But we need the possibility of action if something happens. Most of it will be such that there will be few restrictions.”
Bayern had submitted, and Stuttgart also benefited
The Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder had already announced far-reaching relaxation of the corona measures one day before the federal-state meeting. A participant limit of 25,000 applies to sporting events in Bavaria with immediate effect. A week ago, the limit for visitors had already been increased from 10,000 to 15,000.
VfB Stuttgart can also look forward to greater fan support in the groundbreaking home game against VfL Bochum. As the Swabians announced three days before the match, thanks to a special permit, 25,000 spectators will be allowed into the arena on Saturday (February 19, 2022), which is 15,000 more than originally planned.
