Alone more goals than 4 teams
Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is the sole record holder for most Championship goals in a season as of Wednesday night. The 27-year-old struck 32 and 33 in the 2-1 win over Peterborough to move past Brentford forward Ivan Toney to the top of the league’s top scorer rankings. Toney had set an all-time high of 31 goals in the preseason.

The Serb has 14 more games to increase his quota. “I think Aleksandar Mitrovic has probably scored more goals than half of the teams in the Championship,” said Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola recently. In fact, with Peterborough, Hull City, Swansea and Barnsley FC, four teams currently have fewer goals than the third most expensive transfer in Fulham’s history.

With his 31 goals, Mitrovic has an unparalleled record – in no second division from Germany, Spain, France or Italy does a player come close to the value of Mitrovic’s 1.1 stalls per game. Simon Terodde from FC Schalke 04 scores an average of 0.78 goals per match in the 2nd Bundesliga and is second in this ranking behind Mitrovic. In the top 10, other current or former players from German second division clubs appear with Sven Michel on three, Guido Burgstaller on four and Robert Glatzel on nine.
