Fulham FC announce transfer of Swansea’s Steven Benda – new colleague for Leno

Suffered cruciate ligament tear in January

Bernd Leno gets a goalkeeper colleague from Germany at FC Fulham. As the “Cottagers” announced, Steven Benda, who was born in Stuttgart, signed a contract until the summer of 2026, including an option for a further year. The 24-year-old comes from the English second division club Swansea City, where he had been trained with two breaks on loan since 2017.

Since his working paper with the “Swans” was originally valid until 2024, Benda will have to pay a fee of £1 million, the equivalent of around EUR 1.15 million. The keeper has yet to feature for Swansea this season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January. Previously, the former 1860 had kept eight clean goals in 31 appearances for the Championship side.

Benda explained his move: “I’m really happy. It’s a big club with a lot of history and tradition, so I’m very happy to be here. If I look at the stadium and the club and the fact that I can play for Marco Silva, it was a very easy decision.”
