Fugitive drug criminal (55) from Den Bosch arrested at Schiphol

The 55-year-old Bert van D. from Den Bosch was arrested on Tuesday at Schiphol Airport. De Bosschenaar was sentenced to eight years in prison last year in a major drug investigation. Since the verdict, the man has been missing.

As a client, the man would have directed several drug labs. There was also close cooperation with drug cartels from Mexico. From recorded conversations in the office of a boiler builder, it became clear that the man was the methman and that he paid money to a boiler builder.

The suspect was free until the verdict on June 10, 2022, but did not appear there. Since the verdict, he has been under international arrest and the police have launched an investigation into his whereabouts.

On Tuesday, he was arrested at Schiphol by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee when he returned from South Africa. Shortly before, the man had indicated through his lawyer that he wanted to report. His case is still on appeal.

All convicts in the Proteus investigation are now incarcerated.
