The police in Spain have tracked down and arrested the Breda money launderer Mirza G. G. was sentenced to four years in prison last year in his hometown, but he went into hiding. Various police services think that the Bredanaar was full of money for years and worked for a drug cartel.

Mirza G. was arrested in Spain on Monday July 3, at the request of FASTNL, the Fugitive Active Search Team. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) reports this on Wednesday. The Bredanaar will be handed over to the Dutch authorities as soon as possible.

The trial against Mirza G. was last fall. The verdict was on December 12. On both days his seat in the courtroom in Breda remained empty. His wife Rosa was there. She received 18 months in prison.

Houses
Mirza G. (44) was born in Bosnia and moved to Breda. He came into the picture with the police and judiciary years ago. For example, he and his wife had bought properties for 2.4 million euros in Breda on the Haagdijk, the Slingerweg and a villa on the Blauwtjes in the Westerpark district.

The money for those properties came from foreign companies in Spain, Bosnia and Slovenia. According to the Public Prosecution Service, these were covers that had been set up specifically to channel crime money and launder money. G. denied that and said earlier that he received money from rental income from a Slovenian company, among other things.

Banknotes
During a house search, a mobile phone with a video was found. It shows Mirza and his wife sitting in a car filming each other while he sings a song. Seventeen piles of banknotes lie on a pink cloth. Bundled notes of fifty to five hundred euros. The police calculated that a total of one hundred and fifty thousand euros must have been in the car.

The two led a luxurious life. They also drew large amounts of money and had seven luxury cars, such as several Porsches and a Hummer.

Drug cartel
The US narcotics service DEA and Europol suspect that G. is one of the members of the Tito and Dino drug cartel in the Balkans. It is led by Edin G. This is a relative of Mirza who also lived in Breda.

An appeal against the conviction is still pending.
