Fugitive Bretly D., suspected of involvement in shooting and stabbing incidents, arrested

24-year-old fugitive Bretly D. is arrested Wednesday morning. D. is suspected of involvement in a stabbing in Zutphen and a shooting in Rotterdam. The police had been looking for D. for weeks and picked him up around 8:15 a.m. in a hotel in Amsterdam, the organization announced.

On October 13, the fire brigade responded to a fire in a house on Handelsplein in Rotterdam. There, firefighters found a seriously injured man, who died on the spot – the police suspect that D. had shot him earlier. D. is also suspected of stabbing a 32-year-old man a week later during an argument in a house on Van Hallstraat in Zutphen.

In the search for D., the police made photos of him public and the Public Prosecution Service offered a reward of 25,000 euros for the tip that would lead to an eventual arrest. In the last 24 hours, approximately two hundred tips were received, mainly from Amsterdam. D. would have been arrested on or near the Prins Hendrikkade. He would not have had a permanent place of residence.
