Hans Lindberg (40), who has been in the Bundesliga for 15 years and has been Mr. Marksman with the Foxes for six years, has now extended his contract by another year. BZ spoke to the foxes oldie.
BZ: Was the contract extension difficult?
Hans Lindberg: No, very easily. Everyone knows that I feel very comfortable with my family in Berlin. It was probably the easiest contract of my career.
Why?
I have never regretted the move to the foxes. My body cooperates and I still have so much fun with handball. It’s a bit more difficult as a young player, because you can make the wrong choice, which could then stop your career.
Yours is unique, you can even become the top Bundesliga goalscorer of all time in the new season? Kyung-Shin Yoon (South Korea) has 2905 goals, Lars Christiansen (Denmark) 2875 and you in third place have 2734.
(laughs) With the 150 more goals that were axed for me in Hamburg after the bankruptcy, I would have been second. But seriously, I never thought I’d even get close to those numbers, that it’s possible. But if I stay injury free I can do it. Yes, that little thought is in my head.
Foxes Berlin
You can already get one trophy, the top scorer crown for this season.
I’m really keen on doing that. It would be awesome to be the top scorer again at 40. It would then be my third time. There are still three games left, I’m just ahead.
Your recipe for success?
I’ve never been the fastest, nor had the greatest jumping ability, but I have every opponent and goalkeeper in my mind in preparation to get a possible advantage.
What else is on your wish list?
Win a title with the foxes.
