The Füchse Berlin reached the next round of the DHB Cup with a lot of excitement. On Tuesday, the Berliners, who were still unbeaten in the Bundesliga, won the third round at HC Erlangen 38:35 (30:30, 16:13) after extra time. The best Berlin throwers in the game in Würzburg were Mathias Gidsel and Jerry Tollbring with ten goals each.

The Foxes started with a lot of speed and great effectiveness. After six minutes they were already leading 5-1. But afterwards the hosts got into the game better, increasingly spread out Berlin’s defense and found gaps. And the Berliners also had a harder time on the offensive. After almost 19 minutes, Erlangen was within one goal again (11:10). But the Foxes were able to hold on to the lead until the break.

But after the break, the guests’ sovereignty was gone. The Berliners left a number of clear opportunities unused. After a good 19 minutes the score was 18:18 and after 50 minutes the Foxes fell behind for the first time (24:25). The capital city team then took the lead again, but conceded the equalizer again 25 seconds before the end. Andersson’s last throw hit the crossbar.

Things remained tight in extra time. Mijajlo Marsenic made the preliminary decision just 78 seconds before the end with his goal to make it 36:34. And the foxes couldn’t let that be taken away from them.
