Füchse Berlin remain victorious in the Handball Bundesliga this year. On Thursday evening, in front of 4026 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle, the Berliners beat the cup winner TBV Lemgo Lippe by 29:24 (14:11).
After the sixth league win in a row, the foxes remain third in the table. Best Berlin throwers were Fabian Wiede with seven and Jacob Holm and Mijajlo Marsenic with five goals each.
The foxes had to do without trainer Jaron Siewert, who will be a father. As twice this season, he was represented by manager Bob Hanning. He had to intervene with a time-out for the first time after twelve minutes because his team was struggling offensively. And it helped, the Berliners were able to break away to 7:4 for the first time. Mainly thanks to some saves from keeper Dejan Milosavljev.
But the game remained hectic. The hosts made too many technical mistakes in attack and were also unlucky with some very questionable refereeing decisions. In the 23rd minute, 41-year-old Igor Vori, who was only signed on Tuesday, came on.
After the change of sides, the foxes pulled away twice by three goals, but Lemgo equalized each time. A good eleven minutes before the end, the hosts managed to develop a four-goal lead for the first time (23:19). And this time the Berliners didn’t let them take them away again.
