The FSB showed a video of the detention of suspects in the preparation of a terrorist attack in the Crimea. According to the department, six supporters of the Ukrainian extremist organization Right Sector (banned in Russia) were going to blow up an Orthodox church.

During a search in the garage of one of the detainees, components for making an explosive device and explosives were found. Correspondence with plans and symbols of a banned organization were also found.

“In the means of communication of radicals found instructions for their [взрывных устройств] production, correspondence with a discussion of the planned terrorist attack, as well as confirming the involvement of the detainees in the propaganda of radical ideology on the Internet,” the message says.

The FSB did not receive data from the CIA and the FBI on the risk of terrorist attacks in Russia

The FSB announced the prevention of a terrorist attack in Crimea against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the Donbass: after the evacuation of the civilian population and general mobilization in connection with the threat of an attack by the Ukrainian army, Russia recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR). This caused the condemnation of a number of Western countries and the imposition of sanctions against Moscow, since the recognition of the DPR and LPR, in their opinion, violates the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
