The day after the hard defeat against PSV, FC Volendam also went under against Sparta Rotterdam. It was an unpleasant evening at Het Kasteel and it ended in 4-0. Big man with the Spartans was Tobias Lauritsen with two goals.
It is not the week of Volendam, despite the fair that is on the program this weekend. PSV (7-1) already lost well in the midweek and it seemed to be going in the right direction on Saturday evening. Robert Mühren tested Nick Olij with a sneaky shot after four minutes. A few minutes later it was Henk Veerman who hit rock hard. Olij saved feline on this attempt.
In the counterpunch, Tobias Lauritsen was released in front of Filip Stankovic’s goal. The Serb was able to stop the ball, after which he also kept the corner out well. After this attractive opening phase, it was not surprising that the ball was in after fifteen minutes. Vito van Crooij appreciated a deep ball from Olij and broke the spell: 1-0. Veerman tested Olij before the break, but he was saved.
False hope
In the second half Volendam was able to come along for a long time and hope for the equalizer. That hope was shattered twenty minutes before time by Lauritsen: 2-0. The resistance of the New Orange seemed broken after this, as four minutes later, Lauritsen made his second of the evening. In the final phase, substitute Sven Mijnans took care of the final chord: 4-0.
Volendam setup: Stankovic; Douiri (W. Ould-Chikh/46), Plat, Mirani, Murkin; Benamar, Eiting (Nazih/87), Muhren (Oristanio/60); Van Mieghem (B. Ould-Chikh/60), Veerman, El Kadiri (Zeefuik/78)
