The six-time ski jumping world champion Markus Eisenbichler is considering a premature exit from the Four Hills Tournament after his botched start.

“The constitution is not right at the back or front. I have to talk to the coaches about whether it still makes sense to continue torturing me. It’s just not nice.”said the 31-year-old on ZDF.

“Just not nice”

Eisenbichler, who had been weak in recent weeks, had missed the second round in Oberstdorf for the first time since 2015. The qualification for the New Year’s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is already on Saturday. “I have to think about what else I’m going to do. I like Garmisch, but actually I like Oberstdorf too.”said Eisenbichler, whose best result of the World Cup winter so far is a ninth place in Titisee-Neustadt.

After dropping out in the first round, Pius Paschke was not satisfied with the first competition of the Four Hills Tournament.

Eisenbichler had not finished the tour in 2015/16. At that time he only finished 41st in Oberstdorf and even failed to qualify in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The second women’s ski jumping event on the New Year’s Tour takes place in Villach. The competition in summary.

In his home town of Oberstdorf, Karl Geiger would like to show himself from his best side in the first competition of the Four Hills Tournament. The German already took seventh place in qualifying yesterday.

In 1953 the Four Hills Tournament in ski jumping took place for the first time. The first winner is Sepp Bradl. But also Germans convince in the first years of the tour.
