What was intended to be a big return for one of the most influential rock bands of the last few decades has turned into a nerve-wracking test of patience for many fans. Ticket sales for Radiohead’s European dates were anything but relaxed and the official resale is also apparently causing dissatisfaction among fans. A real storm of indignation is currently erupting on social media.

Moon prices for Radiohead tickets in resale

The original pre-sale was turbulent: only selected fans received access codes to buy tickets. However, many others came away empty-handed. Now many are criticizing the price spiral of the resale system. While official platforms were supposed to make resales “fair,” some absurd prices were now appearing: “An excellent offer for ‘new fans’. Berlin is now available from $589,” a fan bitterly scoffs under Radiohead’s resale post on Threads.

But many critics connect their frustration not with the band itself, but with the system: “Your fans have jobs, families and busy lives. Many of us grew up with your music. I don’t expect any special treatment, just a little more respect and consideration. Being stuck in your resale for a day – do you think we have nothing else to do except refresh the site? That’s arrogant!”

Another doesn’t even try to get tickets in resale: “The first time was a terrible, depressing experience. Never again.”

Even fans who were able to buy tickets speak of an emotional roller coaster ride. “Unfortunately, this is the worst ticket buying experience ever. I thought it would be a smooth experience, but instead it was depressing… to the point that I gave up. I refuse to pay 50 times the original price. It was a terrible, stressful experience. Sorry. Still, I love you, from the comfort of my sofa.”

Sometimes it’s worth sticking with it

A small glimmer of hope remains: Some fans report that the system was overwhelmed, but in the end it still spits out tickets. “The system works, I was almost desperate and mentally exhausted, but after refreshing the page I was able to get a ticket. Please don’t hate the band, just keep trying,” they say conciliatoryly.

“I bought two tickets for Berlin yesterday via the official resale platform, both at the original price! So happy…” writes someone relieved. And yet another user draws comparisons to other bands where things seem to be going better: “I bought two tickets to see The Cure today, no hassle, super fair price. I wish it was the same for you, but no!”
