Frosty nights ahead in December, high chance of cold Sinterklaas evening | inland

Rain, fog and frosty nights. It will get a bit colder every day next week, because colder air will be brought in from the east.

While it will still rain today and tomorrow with fairly mild temperatures of up to 10 degrees, the weather will change during the week. “We see a big change on the weather maps this week. The current turns from the south to the east and that means colder weather,” reports Raymond Klaassen of Weerplaza.

From Tuesday, the chance of fog will increase sharply. Some regions may even experience dense fog. On Wednesday, an eastern current will start above the Netherlands, causing the colder air from northeastern Europe to move towards our country.

Night frost

“Afternoon temperatures of no more than 5 degrees seem to be the maximum achievable and frost in the nights is realistic, especially in the outlying areas,” says Klaassen. The chance of precipitation will decrease in the coming days, but there will not be much sun either. It will therefore remain cloudy and gray.

The lowest temperatures are currently expected around Sinterklaas. Count on maxima of 3 to 4 degrees during the day to -1 degrees at night. Whether the cold will continue after that remains to be seen.
