Frontex confirms finding naked migrants at Turkish-Greek border | Abroad

They were said to have been driven to the border by the Turks and stripped of their clothing and possessions. Greek Migration Minister Notis Mitarakis called it a “disgrace to civilization”. A Frontex spokeswoman said some migrants had visible injuries.

Turkish government denies

The Turkish government denies that it pushed the migrants across the border naked. In a tweet in English, Turkish Deputy Interior Minister Ismail Catakli accused Greece of “manipulation and dishonesty”. “Because they cannot find a single case of Turkish human rights violations, they are spreading an image of their own atrocities and claiming that Turkey committed it,” it sounds.

Most of the 92 migrants come from Syria or Afghanistan. According to the Greek government, they told Frontex agents that three Turkish army vehicles had taken them to the Greek border. Athens has been accused of carrying out illegal pushbacks of migrants on several occasions, at its maritime and land borders with Turkey. Greece has always denied those allegations.
