From the door for free to 17 million euros: Brobbey returns to Ajax

He was already rented from RB Leipzig last six months, but Brian Brobbey is officially back in Amsterdam. Ajax reportedly has seventeen million euros left for the striker, who walked out for free last year in the summer. Brobbey signs with the national champion for five years.

The born Amsterdammer still had a contract for three years with the Germans, so Ajax had to dig into their pockets. In his rental period with the national champions, he made twelve appearances and seven goals.

Ajax had no more strikers left. Brobbey is therefore seen as the replacement for Sébastien Haller who left for Borussia Dortmund for 31 million euros. Danilo Pereira made the spicy transfer to Feyenoord earlier on a free transfer.

Brobbey is Ajax’s fourth purchase in this transfer period. Steven Bergwijn (Tottenham Hotspur), Owen Wijndal (AZ) and Francisco Conceição (FC Porto) previously made the switch to Amsterdam.
