From skeleton to apartments: that’s the situation with the construction work on Boerhaavelaan

For months now, the former office buildings Australia, Africa, Asia and America have looked a bit sad. The buildings have been stripped in preparation for the Terra Nova new construction project. Construction is long overdue, but nothing has happened yet. What’s up with that?

Several readers of the neighborhood Zoetermeer sent our editors the question about the state of affairs regarding the construction of Terra Nova. In this new construction project, 106 low-rent, 98 medium-priced rent, 189 owner-occupied or rented homes in the private sector and 30 care homes are planned.

Then there must be a contractor

When this new construction project was announced in March 2021, it was planned that the homes would be completed in mid-2023. But then there must be a contractor who carries out the work. Since real estate developer Breevast has not yet succeeded in this, little is happening on Boerhaavelaan.

That will take a while

Terra Nova would be the first construction project to be completed in the new Entree district. Delivery will now be no earlier than 2025-2026. The municipality, the developer and home seekers hope that the contractor will be found this spring. AD Zoetermeer spoke to a Breevast spokesperson and alderman Jan Iedema about Terra Nova.
