Finnish NHL players fall victim to hard tackles every season. Some of the tackles are completely clean, some are very dangerous and some of that famous middle ground.

Iltalehti listed struggles in which a Finn is remembered as a party.

Sami Kapanen

One of the most memorable tackles for Finns is Darcy Tuckerin put a warranty Sami Kapaseen in the 2004 playoff series for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers.

Kapanen aimed for the gutter. Tucker came from the other direction and drove the Finn into the plexiglass. Kapanen just got back on top of the change.

Kapanen’s survival on the bench was rewarded, as less than a minute later Flyers Jeremy Roenick scored the winning goal of the match. Had Kapanen been lying on the ice, there would never have been a winning goal.

Kapanen played 18 playoffs that spring as the Flyers progressed all the way to the conference final.

Sebastian Aho

Carolina Hurricanes star striker Sebastian Aho received a frightening-looking bomb Bruins defender Charlie McAvoylta in the sixth game of the first round of the playoffs this spring.

The situation shows that McAvoy is driving from the back corner towards Aho. After losing the puck, Aho just has time to turn before he sees McAvoy’s headlights pointing at his target.

There was no whistling from the rigging. However, Aho survived the start and was able to play the end of the match.

Patrik Laine

Tesoma’s cannon was rudely stuck in its incoming season at the Winnipeg Jets after playing in Buffalo Jake McCabe came purely to counterattack the Wave.

After the tackle, McCabe was held accountable to angry Jets players. Laine suffered a concussion in the situation and thus had to skip the next eight games.

Toni Lydman

In the playoffs of the spring 2013 Anaheim Ducks Toni Lydman got into an ugly tackle. Detroit Red Wings striker Justin Abdelkader came from the dead corner to Lydman straight to the head. On top of all that, the Yankee striker intensified the contact by jumping.

Lydman’s career ended there. He suffered a concussion from the tackle and was unable to get out of the trough on his own.

Abdelkader was given a chance to change things around.

Alexander Barkov

In the regular season Alexander Barkov was sadly faced with a New York Islanders defender in November Scott Mayfield subject to knee surgery.

Mayfield got out of the tackle, but he survived without disciplinary action. Barkov was led off the ice and had to be sidelined for eight games.

Sami Salo

The 107-minute regular season match between the Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins in early 2012 was also Finnish-colored. Boston cult player Brad Marchand skinned Sami Salon with.

Marchand and Salo first clashed in the midfield, but the situation didn’t get any worse. But a moment later, Marchand got a puck on the edge and saw Salon driving a tackle on him. Marchand squatted outrageously, and Salo drove himself halfway through the Boston player’s hip.

The judge’s hand rose immediately and Marchand flew into the shower about the cut. Salo crashed into the ice and hurt himself. Frustrated, Salo threw his racket and skated off the ice.

NHL discipline imposed a five-game collar on the offender. Salo had to be on the sidelines for six games due to a concussion.
