The door for a change from RB Leipzig’s sports director Max Eberl to FC Bayern could open in the not too distant future.
As “Sport Bild” reports, Eberl’s whereabouts with the Saxons are initially only set in stone for the upcoming transfer period (July 1 to September 1, 2023).
Should FC Bayern then approach the RB managers with an offer for Eberl, “a new discussion would have to take place,” writes the tabloid.
In this case, the Leipzig team should initially insist on Eberl’s contract, which runs until 2026.
The long-time sporting director of Borussia Mönchengladbach had only been hired by RB last December after a break of several months.
Since FC Bayern parted ways with sports director Hasan Salihamidzic around the season finale in the Bundesliga, Eberl has been considering moving to Munich.
RB Leipzig: Max Eberl denied meeting with FC Bayern
He himself denied media reports that there were even talks with the German record champions.
“I’ve gotten to the point that I only work with facts. The fact is: I have a contract in Leipzig. The fact is: There was no meeting with Bayern Munich. It’s also a fact that we’re working very intensively on the RB Build a squad for the new season,” Eberl told SID.
However, the ex-professional confirmed regular contact with Honorary President Uli Hoeneß, who is pulling the strings on Säbener Straße again after the major unrest of the past few months.
There are busy weeks ahead of Eberl at RB Leipzig before there is a possibility of a move to Bayern Munich.
The transfer of Christoph Baumgartner from 1899 Hoffenheim to Leipzig for 24 million euros should be fixed. Jesper Lindström (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Lois Openda (RC Lens) could follow soon.
