Linkin Park shared some good news on social media: “‘Lost’, a new, unheard song from the METEORA archives, is out on Friday February 10th,” the group writes. In advance of this announcement, they started a countdown on their website. METEORA, the band’s second studio album, which includes hits like “Numb” and “Somewhere I Belong”, celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2023.
Linkin Park: More contact with fans – but “no comeback!”
Linkin Park have been on hiatus since the death of singer Chester Bennington in 2017, but have said on social media and in interviews over the past year that they plan to at least communicate with their fans “a little more regularly” in the future.
But there won’t be a comeback, Mike Shinoda assured in a Twitch stream in spring 2022 with “Rock Antenne”, as also reported by “NME”. He said: “The only Linkin Park news I have for you guys is that… Yes, we speak every few weeks – I’m in touch with the guys, or some of the guys. But there is no touring, there is no music, there are no albums in the pipeline. So just keep in mind that a comeback isn’t going to happen.”

Shinoda clears up rumors
He then explained, “I say that because every time the band says something or does something, everybody’s trying to start the hype train and we’re like, ‘No, no, no, no. Don’t start the hype train.’ You will disappoint yourself.”
Earlier in 2019, rumors circulated that Linkin Park was looking for a new singer to replace Bennington. Shinoda also commented on this in clear words on his Twitter account:
“I’d like to clear up a rumor: we’re not looking for a new singer, and if it came up organically I’d be open. That seems pretty clear, but I guess some people are having trouble understanding it. Stop making up shit.”
Lemme clarify a rumor: we are not looking for a new singer, and if it were to happen organically, I’d be open. Seems pretty clear, yet I guess some folks have a hard time understanding.
I’m not into predicting the future. The future will happen.
Stop making shit up.
