Joel Harkimo sails across the Atlantic with celebrities again on television.
ATTE KAJOVA
Entrepreneur Joel Harkimo has sailed across the Atlantic three times, each time has been televised.
His father, Hjallis Harkimo, took the first sailing to the celebrity pop over the ocean, the last two times Joel has hosted the crowd.
– But the actual captain is in the boat Kenneth “Kentsu” Thelen. I have worked as a presenter or group leader, Joel elaborates.
– There are big risks in crossing the Atlantic, so the skipper in overall responsibility must have strong experience. Kentsu has sailed with Hjallis around the world and he is one of Finland’s toughest racing sailors, Joel adds.
Jolle is not tired of crossing the Atlantic yet, although sometimes you can do something else.
– I just calculated that I have been on a Lintu boat more than 10,000 nautical miles. It corresponds to approximately 18,500 kilometers. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been there, and the scenery hasn’t changed much, even though, for example, we set off from Portugal instead of the Canary Islands, Joel said at Wednesday’s press conference of the Transatlantic program.
Even though the man has now been involved in three Transatlantic seasons, he can’t really compare them.
– The group goes on a trip, and every time it has been different.
– The trips have been unique and we’ve always had a good group. This time we welded together in a very special way. We have kept in touch a lot even afterwards.
Of course, weather conditions and things experienced during the trip affect the group’s mood and spirit.
– As soon as the weather is harsher, we sleep worse, the clothes are wet all the time, there is more seasickness and other things. Adversities weld the team even more together, says Joel.
The man will also be seen in another program this fall, after all, he will take over the dance floor in the Dancing with the Stars competition.
– It is definitely easier to go across the Atlantic! When it comes to dancing, I’m really in front of something new, Joel compares.
