ANDlliot Erwitt. Vintage is a retrospective of the great photographer, a master of capturing unrepeatable moments with irony and sensitivity. More than 150 vintage prints (that is, made within a few years from the date of the shooting) and about thirty of the most famous photos, witnesses of a 60-year career, are on display. His shots tell a cross-section of the history and customs of the twentieth century through a profoundly ironic gaze that characterizes the great author.
This extraordinary body of photography allows you to address the main themes that characterize Erwitt’s great work: from the theme of racial integration in America after the Second World War to the social changes in American society, to continue with the much discussed theme of nudism … and then again dogs, children, travel around the world.
The exhibition itinerary is enriched by audiovisual material dedicated to the great photographera real opportunity for further study.

Pop visions in Parma
100 years after the birth of the New York artist Roy Lichtenstein. Pop Variations recounts his articulated artistic journey, through about fifty emblematic works of the different themes that inspired him. Between screen prints, experiments on metal, fabric and plastic, videos and photos – “creative media” that Lichtenstein has always used for his work – the exhibition follows a chronological trend.
The start takes place in the sixties, when Lichtenstein confronts his creativity with the world of comics and advertising. And he experiments with what will become the unmistakable elements of his art: the use of “dots”, the reworking of the typographic technique of the screen and the choice of strong colors (red, yellow, blue).
There is no shortage of landscapes, still lifes, female nudes. The exhibition is the first stop on a journey that Palazzo Tarasconi dedicates to the States and Pop Art.
INFO: Parma, Palazzo Tarasconi, until 18 June.

Venice in black and white
Nikos Aliagas has traveled the Venetian streets to meet those who are not seen in the city: the inhabitants, i.e. those who avoid the gazes of the tourists’ lenses. This project germinated and grew in the artist’s soul when the Greek-French photographer, at the invitation of the Golden Tree Foundation, visited the lagoon for the first time and was able to observe its mysterious and fascinating reality. At that moment, the idea of really looking inside Venice was bornexploring the world that revolves around Palazzo Vendramin Grimani.
Nikos Aliagas. Regards Venitiens is a photographic exhibition that tells the symbolic places and the extraordinary everyday life of Venice and lets the images tell the stories of those who live and make these places live. The images of Nikos Aliagas are in black and white: the artist explores contrasts, backlighting, movements within shots in which straight and curved lines are combined, for example on a face or at the corner of a calle.
«Is it still possible to improvise in Venice? In a city photographed a million times by passing eyes? Yes, if we start from the principle that Venice watches and observes us.»
Nikos Aliagas

Feminine irony in Milan
«For centuries we’ve been given dumbass and finally we can deliberately call ourselves dumb at an all-female comedy night which draws inspiration for the title from the joke of the variety “Come forward, idiot!”, made famous by the De Rege Brothers. It’s a game, a provocation… because remember, behind a big idiot there is often a woman who is too intelligent…”. Serena Dandini says it talking about Come on stupid, Next!the theatrical format that he conceived and leads with a female cast.
The starting point for the title is a famous joke by the De Rege Brothers, later taken up by Carlo Campanini and Walter Chiari, which Dandini sagaciously transforms into an amusing tribute to female self-irony.
«This theatrical format finally wants to celebrate female “idiocy”! An exclamation that may seem bold these days but perfectly in line with the long uphill road of women’s empowerment. Even comedy has always been a battlefield in which men have maintained privileged roles as protagonists, relegating the female sense of humor to a nice side dish of little value. Virginia Woolf had already understood more than a century ago that humor had been denied to women by stating that: “Women and children are the main representatives of the comic spirit…” so the time has come to take up this scepter again. Madeleine Albright – the first US secretary of state – a Great Mother who understands power – declared with conviction that true equality will only be achieved when a stupid woman can have the same position of responsibility as a stupid man who has managed to make a career anyway despite his obvious stupidity… isn’t that an injustice? Since to be accepted we always have to prove something, be super-woman, excellent graduates, geniuses… with this theatrical format we want to say enough to the Ginger Rogers syndrome that has to do everything Fred Astaire does but on heels and walking backwards : the time has come to reclaim our stupidity.’
Serena Dandini
