From brown snout to cabbage white: butterfly counter has a great weekend | Inland

Where does the great status you enjoy in the butterfly counting world come from?
,,Then I have to go all the way back to my student days, now more than forty years ago. I spent four months in the De Peel nature reserve with a number of fellow Biology students. It was only there that I was captivated by the butterflies. I saw how fascinating they are, the brown snout, the little fox, the peacock eyes and all those other variants of this beautiful animal. Strange really, because before that I had nothing to do with butterflies.”
