Ci am Wonka and Barbieand then Chiara Ferragni and Fedez. Carnival has arrived, February 8th is Shrove Thursday and February 13th Shrove Tuesday and the masks go crazy. But which are the favourites? It depends on the age and the collective irony of the moment. But to dictate the trends and decree the success of the disguise the coolest and most ironic of the year are always social media.

The fog does not stop the Venice Carnival

Carnival masks, the trendiest

So, among the adult face masks with the most positive reviews on e-commerce sites, there are the sexy lace ones for Catwoman’s eyes, those in plastic or cardboard from Dalì taken from the House of Paper, from Anonymous and from Ghost-face. Surprisingly, cardboard ones portraying Chiara Ferragni and Fedez also appear.

For the little ones Barbie and Wednesday

For the little ones, this year there are Barbie costumes in mind, the classic version or the western-style version of actress Margot Robbie in the blockbuster film. Among the favorite characters are always those taken from films or TV series: there are the protagonists of Stranger Things, Wednesday of the Addams Family, Willy Wonka and Harry Potter. The Minnie Mouse costume is very popular.

The classics never fade

Classic costumes never go out of fashion: from fairy tale characters such as the Disney princesses, from Elsa to Snow White, to the bunny and the fairy, from Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter. Among the best sellers online, also the original Batman costume, dark night version. Pirate and Viking masks are always popular as are policeman, doctor and fireman masks. For those with a more nerdy soul, fans of sagas and magic, Star Wars themed costumes cannot be missing.

Carnival, it’s not just Venice

The Carnival celebration, which has its roots in the Greek Dionysiaca or the Roman Saturnalia, changes according to the traditions of each country. And, in Italy, there is not only the one in Venice, although it is the most famous. There are other very beautiful carnivals: like the one in Sciacca in Sicily. It is one of the oldest historical carnivals on the island which is characterized by a production of allegorical floats that is surprising in terms of number, manufacture and size. Considered among the most beautiful carnivals that of Ronciglione, a municipality in Tuscia in Lazio, full of events, parades and traditions. And, again, there is the Cento carnival, in Emilia Romagna even twinned with that of Rio de Janeiro, is characterized by allegorical floats that are hoisted over 20 meters high. But there are so many to go and browse, naturally strictly in costume.
