Like all other festivals, the Darmstadt festival Golden Leaves has been acutely affected by the corona pandemic in recent years. After 2020, the edition planned for 2021 also had to be cancelled. This was all the sadder because there was no internationally active, large booking and event agency behind the festival, which could compensate for the shortfalls for the time being, but a handful of organizers whose financial situation was and is so tight that they do not allow themselves any missteps could. At the time, they wrote about the cancellation: “We have expended all our remaining energy to fulfill our promise to be able to celebrate a Golden Leaves with you again this year and still have to paint the sails. We are heartbroken to have to bring you the sad news of another cancellation today.”
All the more gratifying is the news that the planning for the Golden Leaves Festival 2022 is already in full swing, various acts have been confirmed and it seems, at least for the time being, that it can actually take place again. From 26th to 28th August is the day in Darmstadt’s Kranichstein Castle Park, presented by the Musikexpress.

On January 26th we launched a digital space that we set up for bands, musicians, promoters, clubs and solo self-employed people in the live music business. There everyone can communicate their concert announcements, postponements and cancellations and find out about projects, jobs and special releases. Statements can also be posted and opinions discussed.
It’s a kind of digital “bulletin board” and is intended to help the music scene get through the Covid crisis relatively unscathed.
