Frogs rescued from Veenhuizen swimming pool during spring cleaning

The spring sun did not show itself convincingly today. Nevertheless, we can prepare ourselves for lambs in the meadow, flowers from the bud and a refreshing dip in the outdoor swimming pool.

Hard work is being done in the open-air swimming pool of Veenhuizen to prepare everything for the new swimming season. “In recent weeks we have removed all leaves and rainwater,” says board member Rob Meijer. The walls of the bath are sprayed clean with a high-pressure hose. “It’s quite a job, which we start weeks before the opening.”

Also today the pump is on to remove the last layer of water. “We just rescued two frogs from the pool and took them to the ditch beyond.” When everything is clean, the bath is filled with clean water. “Then it will take a while before it is up to temperature. The water is heated to 24 degrees.”

The bath in Veenhuizen will open on 6 May and the season can begin.
