Frits Huffnagel denounces Meilandjes: ‘You are responsible yourself!’

Frits Huffnagel is extremely annoyed that the Meiland TV family is blaming their own failures on the municipality of Noordwijk. “Every other entrepreneur must also have his affairs in order.”

The Meilandjes have bought a new guest house in Noordwijk, but have forgotten to investigate whether all permits are in order. Just before the opening, the municipality informed them that this was not the case, because the operators must also live there according to the current permit. And that’s not the case.

“It’s weird too!”

It bothers VVD prominent Frits Huffnagel that the Meilandjes immediately started pointing an accusing finger at the municipality, he says to the desk of Show news. As an entrepreneur you are personally responsible for ensuring that your affairs are in order, he emphasizes.

However, Maxime Meiland does not think it is necessary to investigate everything. According to her, you just have to be able to assume something in life. “It’s also weird. You would think: okay, I’m buying a building and that permit is attached to it. Just like in a cafe. Then you hope that you can serve booze. You just assume that of course. That does not occur to you.”

Frits critical

According to Martien Meiland, it is especially annoying that the municipality sounded the alarm so close to the opening. “I found that especially annoying.”

Frits: “Yes, he can find that annoying, but every other entrepreneur must also have his affairs in order and take care of himself and see how it all works. His wife is a member of the Noordwijk city council, so: hello!”

I leave

They are just klutz, says Frits. “Yes, it’s also a bit I’m leaving. They always start a restaurant with a terrace there and then they think they can automatically serve. No, you must have permission for that!”

Colleague Natacha Harlequin: “You can also ask.”

Bart Ettekoven: “You sometimes say that a donkey doesn’t hit the same stone twice. With the next construction project, I would like to inquire well in advance about the rules.”
