Friend and family very worried about missing Thomas (20): “He fell into a psychosis”

What happened to Thomas from Sunday evening? Thomas’ friend and family, also known as Tiger of Taiga, are still very worried about the missing Englishman. He has been missing since Sunday evening, after he develops a psychosis and was dropped off at the hospital. After that, it is unclear what happened to the 20-year-old boy. “We hope he can come home very soon and in good health,” say his sister Holly and aunt Emma.

Thomas and his boyfriend Tom left England for Schiphol last Friday. Once there, the journey continues to Hoorn, where they spend the weekend with a friend from the Netherlands. However, during a party on Saturday night, things go very wrong for 20-year-old Thomas, who is also known as Tiger of Taiga.

“We had both taken drugs,” explains Tom. It would be about speed, which Thomas and his boyfriend use more often, and also a lot. “During that night he became paranoid, and went into a psychosis. He started seeing things that weren’t there at all.”

“When I last saw him he was very confused and aggressive”

All kinds of ways are tried to calm the boy down, for example by taking him for a walk. He is also put in another room to cool down. There is no point. It only makes Thomas more aggressive. He throws stuff and some windows don’t survive his tirade, Tom says.

Towards hospital

Only on Sunday evening around 11 p.m., thirty hours after Thomas falls into a psychosis, Tom and the Dutch boy decide where to stay to take the Englishman to hospital. On this evening Thomas wears the hoodie in the photo above, he also has purple hair. Tom himself is not going. “When I last saw him he was very aggressive. We had an argument and I felt I needed some distance from him.”

Thomas is dropped off by car near the hospital. The Dutch boy then drives back to the house in Hoorn, says Tom. “He was supposed to pick me up and some stuff to drive to the hospital together. But when we got there he wasn’t there anymore.”

According to Thomas’s family, he would have walked in and went to the toilet. Then he leaves the hospital again. Since then every trace has been missing. “Thomas seems to be on camera footage, where you can see him stepping in there. But not that he’s out again,” says his sister Holly.

“Why would you leave someone like that, and then drive away?”

Emma, aunt of missing Thomas

Tom and the other boy searched intensively for Thomas in the hours that followed, but could not find him. They decide to inform Holly at 3:07 am and go home, where they catch up on sleep. Only in the morning the police are called in, and Holly reads her messages.

The fact that the Dutch boy dropped Thomas off at the door – and did not accompany him into the hospital to hand over the 20-year-old to a doctor or nurse and explain the situation – is strange to say the least. The editors have tried to get the boy’s identity and contact details, but have not yet succeeded.

Holly and Emma, Thomas’s aunt with whom he is very close, also do not understand why the boy from Hoorn did not go inside. “We are not sure, but we think he was under the influence and therefore did not dare to go in for fear of being caught,” Emma says about the boy. “Because why would you leave someone like that, and then drive away?”

Lots of comments and support

Thomas’s aunt is aware of the young Englishman’s drug use. “He has done this before, but as we now heard how she behaved, we do not know him,” she explains. “That might be due to the drugs themselves, a different environment, or the different language that was spoken. These are all stimuli that he may not be able to process properly.”

Within a day they place appeals on social media, which are widely shared and generate many reactions and statements of support for the family. Aunt Emma is in contact with the British embassy in The Hague, and also speaks with the Dutch police on behalf of her family in England.

Both have sleepless nights from the missing. “You spend a lot of time on it. Then you lie in bed thinking about what else you could do, or who you could approach,” says Emma. “Of course we would like to know where he is and how he is doing.”

“We have received so much support from everyone in the Netherlands! We are really grateful for that”

Holly, sister of missing Thomas

The massive coverage and help in the search for Thomas does the family good. Holly was also able to contact SAR Netherlands, the search team of people from all over the Netherlands who help search for missing persons.

“We have received so many sweet reactions and support from all kinds of people from the Netherlands,” says Holly. “That really does us great good. For example, there are people who also translate messages and share them with us or have enabled other regions to look out for Thomas, such as Amsterdam. We have now received more support from the Dutch than we could have ever dreamed!”
