Bob pilot Francesco Friedrich didn’t let himself be thrown off course by a training crash and celebrated a double success in Park City.

The Olympic champion from Oberbärenburg also won the four-man competition on Saturday (December 3, 2022) after his triumph the day before in the two-man event. Second and third place also went to Germany: Johannes Lochner (+0.23) and Christoph Hafer (+0.24) had to admit defeat to Friedrich.

Together with his brakeman Thorsten Margis, Friedrich won the doubles competition on Friday (December 2nd, 2022) and thus secured his 69th World Cup victory. “In the first run we weren’t good enough at the start and on the track. We put everything into the second run – that was rewarded,” said the 32-year-old. Friedrich, who fell in the four-man training session, finished 0.26 seconds ahead of Brad Hall. The Briton had led the field after the first of two rounds. Michael Vogt from Switzerland secured third place (+0.32).

The other German pilots followed immediately behind. Vice World Champion Johannes Lochner finished fourth with Florian Bauer (+0.40), Christoph Hafer took fifth place with Matthias Sommer (+0.47).
