Frequent offender measure for 43-year-old fake collector in Assen

A 43-year-old habitual offender from Assen has been given an Institutional Offender measure for defrauding four older people. This ISD measure means that the man will receive a treatment process within the prison that lasts two years.

The man was arrested at the end of December when he was collecting for a good cause: the Salvation Army. But there was no collection for that at that time. Neighbors smelled danger and called the police. The Assenaar had only just been released for a few days and had just finished an eight-month prison sentence for fraud.

The former Groninger had also collected at the time with a prepared collection box. Then he raised money for the Stomach Liver Intestine Foundation. He did not want to tell Assen how he got the collection box. He may have taken his old bus from the shed. The local residents took pictures of the man, so that he could be arrested again.

The man has a criminal record of fifteen pages. Many treatments have been unsuccessful so far. A frequent offender trajectory must now put an end to his addiction problems and the continuous decline in crime.
