French supermarkets are going to lower temperatures and put out signboards due to energy crisis | Abroad

Sector federation Perifem announced its plans for “energetic austerity” on Monday. The joint measures to reduce energy consumption come “due to the risk of shortages in electricity supply this winter, announced by the government,” it reads.

French President Emmanuel Macron said in a speech on July 14, the national holiday, that his government is working on “austerity plan” to reduce energy consumption. France must prepare to do without Russian natural gas, because of the war in Ukraine.

The measures taken by the retail sector will come into effect on 15 October.
