Eintracht Frankfurt has ended its months-long search for a striker. Hugo Ekitike is on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. The total package consisting of the loan fee and purchase option is said to be 30 million euros.

Hugo Ekitike is moving from Paris Saint-Germain to Eintracht Frankfurt with immediate effect. As the Hessian Bundesliga club announced on Thursday evening, the French striker will be on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season. There is then a purchase option for the Bundesliga club.

Total package of up to 30 million euros

“Hugo is a young player who has already demonstrated his great potential. We were already convinced of him in the summer and didn’t discard the idea.”said Eintracht sports director Markus Krösche about the transfer. The club is happy that the transfer worked “given our economic conditions,” the manager continued. According to reports from France, the total package consisting of rental fee and purchase option is up to 30 million euros.

After Donny van de Beek, Sasa Kalajdzic and Jean Matteo Bahoya Ekitike is the fourth Frankfurt’s winter newcomer. The new recruits are intended to help create new qualifications for international business.

Ekitike: Fast, agile – strong in the air

Ekitike is considered to be technically strong and very agile. “He is a modern player who moves well in depth, has a good header game and is quite fast despite his height (1.89 meters, editor’s note),” describes French sports journalist Ali Farhat the new Frankfurt striker.

Ekitike made his breakthrough in the 2021/2022 season at Stade Reims when he scored ten goals this season in Ligue 1 before being slowed down by a thigh injury. After his move to Paris for 28 million euros, it quickly became clear: PSG’s star ensemble was too big for the young Frenchman. So now a new beginning in unfamiliar surroundings – Ekitike wants to find his old strength again in Frankfurt.
