French-speaking schools do without a corona barometer | Inland

Unlike Flanders, the French Community does not intend to impose an ‘autumn plan’ on schools or reintroduce a corona barometer in the event of a wave of the corona virus. That is what education minister Caroline Désir (PS) assured in the parliament of the French Community. The circular letters that she sent at the start of the school year therefore remain in force.

At the moment it is not useful for her to bring out the color-coded barometer again. The minister pointed out that the rules are always adapted to the unpredictable evolution of variants.

The situation in the schools is very calm at the moment. Pupils now also have two weeks of vacation due to an adjustment of the school calendar in the French Community.

“There is no question”

“The health authorities have not formulated any questions for (additional) measures,” emphasized Minister Désir. “So you can understand that I will not unnecessarily disturb the organization of the schools.”

Flemish Education Minister Ben Weyts (N-VA) announced in mid-October that he had agreed an autumn plan with the various Flemish education actors to deal with new outbreaks of the virus and to keep schools open. The plan includes a four-color corona barometer, classroom ventilation and CO2-measurements.
