Production at the Moscow plant of the French Renault, which is among the TOP-5 largest manufacturers in Russia, will be temporarily suspended from February 28 to March 5. This was reported by the press service of the company.
The reason is “some interruptions” in the supply of components. “Disruptions are primarily related to the strengthening of border regimes in transit countries and the forced need to change a number of established logistics routes,” the press service notes.
According to a Renault representative, the French company is the leader in localization among foreign manufacturers. However, there are some accessories that are shipped from other countries. “We are working to find a solution for the speedy resumption of production,” he added.
AvtoVAZ allowed assembly lines to stop in Togliatti for one day
Former head of Renault Group Luca de Meo declared in an interview with the Financial Times that the unstable geopolitical situation against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis could lead to a halt in automotive production in Russia, including at AvtoVAZ (controlled by Renault) and the Renault plant.
