French parliament agrees on new migration law

The French parliament appears to have agreed to a new migration law. A special committee with members of coalition and opposition parties has reached a compromise after hours of difficult consultations, after President Emmanuel Macron’s proposal was voted down last week. Even Marine Le Pen’s radical right-wing Rassemblement National now says it will vote in favor of the new law and the conservatives of Les Républicains have also dropped their objections.
