French energy giant Engie buys last billion cubic meters of capacity LNG terminal Eemshaven

The capacity for liquefied gas (LNG) in the floating terminal in Eemshaven in the Netherlands in Groningen has been sold completely.

The French Engie is reducing the capacity for the last 1 billion cubic meters of gas, Gasunie said. The Czech ČEZ and Shell Western LNG previously signed a contract to import 7 billion cubic meters of gas per year via the terminal.

Two floating factories

Two floating factories will be located there in Eemshaven. This is where the liquefied gas arrives and is brought back to a temperature where it takes on a gaseous form. This gas can then enter the European gas network.

According to Gasunie, the two floating gas factories will arrive in Eemshaven at the beginning of September. Everything is now being prepared there so that the gas terminal can start working immediately. The first gas supply via the terminals should take place in mid-September.
