There is no future for the French clothing retailer Camaïeu. The company announced on its website that all business operations were stopped on October 1st. All branches and the online shop have now been closed. The customers now have no right to refunds or the exchange of purchased products, the textile chain store based in Roubaix in northern France said in a statement.
The company, founded in 1984, was taken over by the investment company Financière Immobilière Bordelaise (FIB) a good two years ago, but a planned restructuring failed. Camaïeu had to file for bankruptcy in the summer. Due to the “difficult framework conditions”, it was not possible to find a future solution “despite all efforts”, explained the clothing supplier. The competent commercial court in Lille then ordered the liquidation of the company last Wednesday, and three days later the retailer finally ceased its activities. According to Camaïeu, around 2,400 employees are affected by the decision.
