In return, the Unioner increased again and, thanks to Christopher Trimmel, made it 2-0 (30th) in the Europa-Park stadium. Christian Streich seemed tense and tried to whip his team forward. But it got even worse: Urs Fischer’s team made it 3-0 (41st) through Sheraldo Becker in front of a horrified Freiburg crowd.

At the beginning of the second half, the best joker in the Bundesliga, Nils Petersen, came on for Jeong Woo-Yeong (46′). Freiburg put increasing pressure and had good chances through Höler and Petersen. In the 59th minute, Höler made it 1:3 – but it was Freiburg’s only goal of the afternoon. Shortly before the end, Union even scored the goal to make it 4:1 (90th) through András Schäfer. Union now has participation in the Europa League in their own hands in the home game against Bochum next week.

Leverkusen withdraws the TSG

Plenty of goals were also scored in the other Bundesliga games. Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen separated 2:4. TSG only made it 1-0 (22nd) through Georginio Rutter, and a short time later Leverkusen equalized to make it 1-1 (34th) through Patrik Schick. Hoffenheim’s Christoph Baumgartner took the lead again shortly before the break to make it 2-1 (36′) – and celebrated exuberantly.

Bayer was only able to equalize again in the second half through Moussa Diaby to make it 2-2 (73rd). A little later, Bayer took the lead 3-2 (76th) through Schick’s second goal, shortly before the end Alario increased to a 4-2 win for Bayer and will now play in the premier class next season.

Dortmund wins against Fürth – Wolfsburg wins against Cologne

Borussia Dortmund achieved a win against Fürth, as was to be expected. BVB won against the bottom of the table in an insignificant 3:1. Julian Brandt made it 1-0 for BVB in the 26th minute, Fürth made it 1-1 in the second half through Jessic Ngankam (70′). But only a short time later it was Brandt again who increased the lead to 2:1 (72nd). Just a few minutes later, Felix Passlack took the lead to 3:1 in the 77th minute. This means that BVB can no longer take second place.

And VfL Wolfsburg also defeated 1. FC Köln in their own stadium 1-0 (43rd) through a goal by Yannick Gerhardt. Despite the defeat, Cologne will be represented in Europe next season.
