Free haircut for Ukrainian women in Bruges
They want to give people a positive boost during this difficult period for them. A heart under the belt, on the barber chair so to speak.
Forget worry in barber chair
The language barrier didn’t get in the way. The Ukrainian women got their haircut for the first time in months and forgot about their worries for a while.
“Very happy, a woman wants to look beautiful at every moment of her life. I am very happy because before coming to Belgium I had a haircut that I was not satisfied with. I get everything I expected here, I am very satisfied” , the Ukrainian women respond.
“They are very pleased, we have never received so much love from the customers,” says Kyra Blomme of ‘Haar & Barbier’ in Bruges.
“Feeling good”
It was regular customer Sergei – himself a Ukrainian who has lived in our country for a long time – who inspired hairdresser Kate to cut and color hair for free on Ukrainian women for a full day.
“I’ve been coming here every month for seven years and Kate knows I’m from Ukraine,” Sergei says. “Kate asked how I felt and I told what I do for Ukrainian people who come here.”
“We are giving Ukrainian moms a good feeling by cutting and coloring their hair,” says Kate Steen of ‘Haar & Barbier’. “Making everyone feel better, making them feel more feminine and have more energy.”
And so there was a smile on his face for the first time in a long time when he left.
