Free electricity with exercise bike from hobby inventor

Working on your fitness and charging free electricity: this is possible with the converted exercise bike from hobby inventor Dirk Bont from Oudkarspel. You can charge your laptop or mobile phone with it, but you can also boil eggs or water for an easy meal. According to Dirk, the solution in war or disaster areas where the power has failed, but also with the current high energy prices and overcrowded power networks.

the generated energy is stored in batteries

Dirk came up with the idea when he saw people working up a sweat on exercise bikes in a gym. Together with techie Jerry Geurts, they built a dynamo in the bicycle, connected it to a car battery and with an inverter you have free power. They demonstrate the bicycle at Eefje Fehrer’s tiny house in Koedijk. She thinks the invention is a great idea. She herself builds off-grid tiny houses that have too little power, especially in winter, because there is not enough solar energy. Polluting aggregates are now used for this purpose, but she sees the exercise bike as a sustainable alternative.
