Free dental care packages for Torhout toddlers
The initiative is a collaboration between Logo Brugge-Oostende and the Torhoutse schools. This concerns a total of 106 dental care packages.
Essential part of education
Young children often do not have sufficient motor skills to properly maintain their teeth all by themselves. Alderman of Public Health Rita Dewulf is happy that they can also offer a free oral care package to the children this year. “Oral hygiene is still too often overlooked as an essential part of education. Yet it is very important to emphasize the importance of good and correct brushing from an early age. This way you avoid cavities, gum problems and other inflammations.”
Healthy mouth case
The teachers also get the chance to work with the Healthy Mouth Case in the classroom. This is a box with educational material about oral care. With large teeth and a large toothbrush, the teacher can show the children how to brush their teeth correctly.
