Children of parents who are struggling because of rising energy costs and inflation will soon be able to have breakfast at their primary school. The Noordenveld city council has adopted a proposal to arrange a free breakfast for these children as soon as possible.
The idea comes from all eight council factions. In addition to a free breakfast, schools must also offer personal hygiene products. The Council believes it is important that children should never be the victims of their parents’ financial problems.
In the House of Representatives, Minister Carola Schouten of poverty alleviation has already made a commitment to ensure that children who need it can receive a meal at school. Because there can be quite a bit of time between the promise and implementation, the city council does not want to wait and take action now.
The college of mayor and aldermen takes the proposal to heart and promises to get to work on it immediately.
