Fred White, drummer for Earth, Wind & Fire and his legendary song ‘September’, dies

The drummer of the American band Earth, Wind & Fire, Fred White, has died at the age of 67, as announced by his brother and bassist of the band, Verdine White, on social networks. At the moment the causes and place of death are unknown.

“Our family is saddened today. With the loss of an incredible and talented family member, Our beloved brother Frederick Eugene ‘Freddie’ White. Joining our brothers Maurice, Monte and Ronald in heaven and already drumming with the angels! He will live in our hearts forever, rest in the power beloved Freddie,” Verdine White posted.

Fred White was born in 1955 in Chicago and started playing the drums at a very young age, which led to him winning six Grammy Awards with the funk bandfounded in 1969 by his brother Maurice White, now deceased.
