The Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt kept their minimal chance of remaining in the Bundesliga.
With a surprisingly clear 88:69 (50:33) at EWE Baskets Oldenburg, Frankfurt improved their record to seven wins and 24 defeats and climbed to 17th place for the time being.
In order to remain in the league, the Skyliners have to win all three outstanding games, Braunschweig (10:19) can no longer win and Gießen (6:22) has to achieve ten successes in the end.
Then Luca Dalmonte’s team would still be able to stay up in the league thanks to the three-way comparison. “Today’s win was good for us. If we can keep it up, I reckon we have a good chance,” said Frankfurt’s Lorenz Brenneke on “Magentasport”.
In the disappointing Oldenburg, Frankfurt dominated from the second quarter at will. Despite the previous six defeats in a row, the Skyliners were completely superior to Lower Saxony. Will Cherry was the guests’ best scorer with 21 points.
