After last season, which she crowned with victory in the overall World Cup, Franziska is ready for the Winter Olympics. The 31-year-old is also successful in her private life.

It was the perfect season for Franziska Preuß. In an exciting end to the season, the German ultimately secured victory in the overall World Cup. She will be chasing gold again at next year’s Winter Olympics. She was recently named “Ski Athlete of the Year” and was honored by the German Ski Association for her achievements.

However, the saying “lucky in games, bad luck in love” does not apply to the German biathlete. In addition to the success on the cross-country ski trail, things are also going well for Preuß in his private life. The world champion is happily in a relationship with Simon Schempp. The two have been in a relationship since the end of 2015.

Schempp is a familiar face for winter sports fans. The 36-year-old celebrated many successes in his career, winning silver in the relay at the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 and silver in the mass start and bronze in the relay in Pyeongchang in 2018. He is also a four-time biathlon world champion.

His career was significantly influenced by a bike crash in 2018, which left him permanently weakened. He ended his career three years later at the age of 32.

He then worked on his academic career, completing a dual course of study at the German Ski Association, where he has been working in financial management since April. Nevertheless, the two try to spend a lot of time together. “I’m absolutely happy that I have Simon. He has my back and knows me as an athlete like no one else,” said Preuß on the BR program “Blickpunkt Sport”. “If I have any questions about training or certain approaches, I can always rely on him. I think that’s a good combination.”

Schempp and Preuß occasionally train together, and she often shares snapshots of the two of them from their private lives on her Instagram channel, such as from vacations together.

The 36-year-old also supports his partner during the competitions. When it was clear last season that she had won the overall World Cup, Preuß threw her arms around him. The biathlete will be able to use this support again with a view to the upcoming Winter Games.
