The Supercup takes place in the Stuttgart MHP Arena. The DFB Cup winner VfB Stuttgart awaits champion FC Bayern on August 16 (8:30 p.m./Sky and Sat.1) in their own stadium. This was announced by the German Football League.
The first sporting highlight of the coming season will be held for the first time under the name Franz-Beckenbauer Supercup and thus recognizes the world champion in 1974. Last year, the Double winner Bayer Leverkusen received 3 million euros as the winner, the VfB, which was then runner-up as runner-up, as a loser. The game took place in Leverkusen, Bayer won in a penalty shootout.
“It is a very good decision by the DFL to carry out the upcoming Franz Beckenbauer supercup in the MHP Arena,” said VfB CEO Alexander Wehrle. “Our arena offers excellent framework for this big game.”
