Frans Timmermans refuses Renze Klamer: ‘Does not want to talk shows’

Frans Timmermans himself could have joined the Renze broadcast in which Jeroen Pauw went completely wild on him, but he didn’t want to. “He will wait until August 22.”

It is clear that Frans Timmermans will have a tough time if he is actually appointed as leader of the combination party GroenLinks and PvdA. He is already under constant attack in the media, including by Jeroen Pauw, Fidan Ekiz and Johan Derksen. Jeroen’s attack in the talk show ‘Renze’ was particularly hard.

August 22

It now appears that Frans himself could have sat on Jeroen’s chair, but the politician ignored the invitation from Renze Klamers’ editors, debate expert Lars Duursma reports in the podcast. The Communicados.

What about? Lars says: “I did ask myself: why wasn’t he there himself? So I just asked the editors of Renze: ‘But didn’t you invite Frans Timmermans?’ The answer was: ‘Yes, we did invite him, but he doesn’t want to join us until August 22.’”

To shit

Why only after August 22? “Because he will probably only be officially appointed as party leader and only then will he also want to appear in talk shows. I understand in itself, but with that he gave Renze an opportunity to at least invite Jeroen Pauw, who made fun of him in the talk show.”

A false start for Timmermans, but it’s not that bad, says co-host Victor Vlam. “You also have to put it into perspective a bit,” says the media expert.

Phase one

Timmermans is not a lost cause, says Victor. “The campaign launch is phase 1 of the campaign, but really only phase 1.”

He continues: “It is also true that in the Netherlands you can sometimes become prime minister with 30 seats, so that means that a lot of people in the Netherlands may find him terrible, but it is still very possible for him to become prime minister. In fact, I think he really is the biggest contender for the Torentje.”
