It is a real hit: the duet Vaya Con Dios, by Frans Bauer and Sieneke. The song has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times on YouTube and the brand new duo can hardly believe it themselves. And there is good news for the fans, because Frans and Sieneke will make songs together more often and they will also go to the theater together. “It really is as if we have known each other for years, it is really very special,” says Sieneke.
The musical spark flew when Sieneke was invited as a guest artist for Frans Bauer’s tour. “Sieneke breathes Dutch music,” says Frans. and fans loved it!” It made me want more. “We were really amazed at how well we fit together,” Sieneke adds.
“It gave us goosebumps.”
So the two went into the studio together. When the song Vaya Con Dios came by, Frans and Sieneke immediately knew that that had to be the song. “That gave us goosebumps, the song touched us,” says Frans Bauer during the radio show Brabants Bont. “We knew right away that this was going to be a hit.”
More than 330,000 people have now listened to the song on YouTube. The song is still number one ‘trending for music’ on YouTube in the Netherlands, and the ratings keep rising. “It is unbelievable,” says Frans. “We let our feelings speak in this song, it was quite an emotional trip.”
“Music is emotion, and that’s what’s happening now.”
Reactions poured in below the video. Many people share their personal story. “The song has a special meaning for everyone,” says Sieneke. “Everyone has their own story and sadness with the song. I have that too.” Frans is also not surprised by the many reactions. “Music is an emotion, and that’s what’s happening now.”
