Franky Demon flies in again as alderman of Bruges. A few weeks ago he was thinking about quitting politics. He was then told by a journalist that the tandem with Mayor Dirk De fauw to go to voters together was cancelled. Even though that was agreed. A bad poll in a newspaper was the deciding factor. At Demon the lights went out for a moment. “You feel your heart beating faster. And at that moment, without going into detail, it was said that I had better go to the doctor. And the doctor took some small tests and advised us to take some rest.”
Demon then withdraws for a while with family and friends. Today he sounds combative and puts the interests of the party first. But can he and party member De fauw still go through the same door? “We can work together professionally, it should be that way. We will continue working. On many files, everyone is on the same page. There are still eleven months until the elections. So I think we now have to continue working together to hopefully see the good policy rewarded here in Bruges.”
